Since 2013 GABS (Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting) have operated Wounded Badger Patrols in the original Gloucestershire cull zone. In 2016 these were expanded to include Herefordshire and the North Cotswolds area of Gloucestershire.
Wounded Badger Patrols operate every evening during the cull and are a peaceful, non-violent, and lawful activity, open to anyone over the age of 16yrs, with no upper age limit. We cover three aspects of patrolling
So however mobile you are or whether you have a disability you can become fully involved and contribute in a vital way. Please explore the menus for more information about patrolling and come along because there really is a place for everyone who wants to protect badgers from the cull.
If you'd like to be invoved then pleas contact us via phone or email.
To ensure everyone acts responsibly and within the law, all patrollers sign up to the WBP protocol. A copy can be viewed here.
Herefordshire meeting point
In 2017 we are co-ordinating the patrols differently in the two zones.
Gloucestershire: (including North Cotswolds) please phone the GABS phone number (see "contact us") at least 24 hours before where you’ll be put in contact with a night co-ordinator to arrange a time and place to meet.
Herefordshire: Meet at 7pm at the furthest end of the car park away from the store front of Tesco Superstore, Orchard Lane, Ledbury, HR8 1DQ. See the map below for details.
Whichever zone you go to, you'll meet a team of wonderful, caring and compassionate people who are prepared to keep walking to protect our badgers!
